About RURI

Established in 2018 and based in Hong Kong, RURI creates beautifully made clothing designed to become part of everyday life. We believe the pieces we return to most are rarely the loudest―they are the ones that feel right from the start, age gracefully, and earn a permanent place in our wardrobe.

Our name is inspired by the Japanese word 琉璃 (るり), representing handcrafted glass and its deep blue color, expressing an appreciation for enduring simplicity.

RURI is a gentle response to modern urban life. We design for a slower, more intentional way of being, cultivating a long-lasting wardrobe that embraces ease, clarity, and quiet joy.

This belief guides everything we do. From the first sketch to the final stitch, every seam, proportion, and fabric is chosen with intention. We value simplicity in a minimal form, as it allows quality, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design to speak for themselves.

We work with trusted makers and carefully selected materials, including fabrics from long-established mills, chosen for their comfort, character, and ability to age gracefully. While a new piece should look good when it is new, true craftsmanship is proven by how well it continues to live with the person who wears it.

For us, creating clothing that lasts has always been more meaningful than simply chasing a season. When something is made with care and worn for years, sustainability follows naturally. It is the outcome of thoughtful design―not the starting point.
